Title: Still Life - Regrets Rating: Pg-16 Pairing: B/S Warning: Character Death Spoilers: None Summary:This started as a one shot drabble for Lisa's B/D community and ended up as a series of Buffy/Sam drabbles instead. Fickle muse... Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters but I do enjoy playing in Joss' and Kripke's sandboxes. Author's Notes: I just realized that I never posted the remaining pieces of this here. D'oh! Still many thanks to Ky and Lisa for all their help with these vignettes. ***
The next time Sam kisses her, the only fire is the one he starts in her belly.
It starts out tentatively, like he's afraid she'll bolt again. Talented fingers trace slow circles on her back before reaching up to cup her cheek. His lips are smooth and there's just a hint of cinnamon on his breath that makes her smile.
It isn't until she gives in, returning the kiss with a breathless, needy whimper, that his lips part and he deepens the kiss.
Sam kisses her like they have all the time in the world and no room for regrets.

She knows what he's thinking, can hear his doubts as clearly as if the wind had whispered them into her ear. He's raw. Not coming apart at the seams anymore but not yet whole, either.
They break for air and she lifts both hands, wraps her arms around his neck and pulls his face toward her until they're eye to eye.
His eyes are closed, so she whispers his name and waits them to open. When they do, she presses her lips to his, initiates another kiss.
She keeps her eyes open, wants him to know it's him she sees.

It is so bitter-sweet! You have a wonderful way describing an image. It isn't overly flowery or wordy. Direct and haunting. I love it!
